Old People Driving
Today I turned on to a road and ended up behind an old person and we were heading towards country lanes. My first thought was oh god now I am going to be stuck behind this old lady for the rest of my trip. Normally I would check the speed and over take when it was safe to. Today though I decided to just back right off giving me ample breaking distance 'incase'.
We got to our first turning and I decided to slow down quite a distance behind her - she got to the turning stopped .. waited for a few seconds then pulled out on a car coming at roughly 60mph who had to swerve to avoid her. My extra caution today felt like a sixth sense and I was pleased she forked off in a different direction to me.
Due to where I live 90% of the time use country roads and it really fraustrates me to be behind people who break everytime a car is approaching from the opposite direction. You would think that the older you get the more you would realise roads are made for two cars. Then the second thing that annoys me is that they drive on these roads at an average of 28mph. The hesitation at every on coming car and the very low speed makes me wonder why they don't take the main roads which are wider and have a speed restriction of 30mph. Then finally there is always a mum in a people carrier type of car on coming who drives in the middle of the road.
Driving Humor
Two elderly women, Mildred and Hazel, were out driving in a large car, barely able to see over the dashboard.
As they're driving along to the grocery store, they approach an intersection. The light is red, but Mildred just drives on through, not hesitating for a second. Bewildered, Hazel thinks to herself "I must be losing it. I could've sworn we just drove through a red light."
A few minutes later, they come up to another red light. Again, Mildred drives right on through. Hazel is alarmed, but is still not sure if she's imagining things. At the next intersection, however, Mildred drives through another red light, prompting Hazel to turn to her friend. "Mildred, are you aware that we just ran through three red lights in a row?"
Mildred replies: "You know, I noticed that too!"
Hazel, flabbergasted, stammers, "You could have gotten us both killed!"
Mildred turns to her slowly, and says, "Me?! I thought you were driving!"
